The IBE has promoted the creation of various documentaries to share the evolutionary perspective with our audiences.

Below is a selection of some of these productions.
You can view all our audiovisual productions on our open YouTube channel.

A KISS THAT CHANGED HISTORY? | What ancient DNA can tell us about human evolution

Did you know that ancient DNA is a window into our past?

Through it, at the IBE we have discovered incredible things...

What an Extinct Human Population looked like; the evolutionary history of a giant ape; the existence of a ghost population hidden in our genes. Even... an encounter between Neanderthals and Homo sapiens.

And this is just the beginning. The Institute of Evolutionary Biology (CSIC-UPF) presents a documentary illustrated by Laura Fraile about the history written in our genes.

In collaboration with Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación y de la Fundación Española para la Ciencia y Tecnología ‐ FECYT.

Vanessa's Odyssey, Tribute to the butterfly Vanessa cardui and her incredible journey

This outreach video illustrates the longest migratory journey of any species of insects: the round-trip migration of the Vanessa cardui (Painted lady) butterfly between northern Europe and the African savannah. This extraordinary trip is repeated year after year by millions of specimens!

Funding: FECYT, Generalitat de Catalunya, European Commission, Marie Curie Actions and National Geographic.
