The paper shows that insulin receptor, and therefore the insulin receptor pathway, is necessary for detecting a positive nutritional status and activating two of the most important insect female reproductive processes: juvenile hormone synthesis and vitellogenin production. The paper also describes some of the mechanisms by which this action is carried out. The first author of the study is M. Abrisqueta and has been performed by researchers from J.L Maestro Lab.
