The Biodiversity Program is committed to unravelling the emergence and maintenance of biodiversity across space and time. Employing and developing state-of-the-art methodologies, we enhance the understanding of the tree of life. Our research systematically investigates the mechanisms underpinning the origin and evolution of populations and species, spanning morphology, genomics, ecology and function. We also contribute to describing and cataloging biodiversity, to documenting ecological adaptations as well as historical, current and future distribution ranges, with the ultimate goal of informing conservation strategies and promoting planetary well-being.
