Science is full of SHEroes whose passion, work and creativity inspired Evolutionary Biologists of today.

As part of our commitment with society, the Institute of Evolutionary Biology (IBE, CSIC-UPF) wants to give credit and visibility to the achievements of female scientists in evolution.

To that aim, we launched the campaign #WhoisyourSHEro to share stories of women who had an impact in our researchers' scientific career through our social media and website.

The campaign keeps on moving as more and more women in evolution are inspiring the IBE community.

You can join the conversation through social media under the hashtag #WhoisyourSHEro

IBE takes part in INDRE, new international research network in Dravet Syndrome and refractory epilepsy

IBE joins a team of more than 13 research groups to work together in the search for the different diseases that constitute refractory epilepsy and Dravet's Syndrome.

17.10.2019

Preclinical and clinical specialists in fields as diverse as genetic therapy, cell therapy, nanotechnology, precision medicine and stem cells from hospitals, universities and research centres, will share knowledge and technology in order to develop more efficient projects within the INDRE network.

Dr. Sandra Acosta, post-doctoral researcher at the Evolutionary Systems Biology lab of IBE, will participate in the project by generating new tools for the genetic diagnosis of epilepsy based on comparative genomics. On the other hand, Acosta will model this type of diseases with embryonic stem cells and induced Pluripotent Stem Cells (iPSCs) based organoids.

The network will also have virtual spaces to work online, tools and infrastructure of its own use, and members will share animal and cellular models, as well as technologies and materials.

The INDRE network is an initiative of ApoyoDravet, with the collaboration of the Spanish Federation of Epilepsy (FEDE) for the promotion of research in Dravet Syndrome and refractory epilepsy.
