Three IBE researchers receive the CSIC award for outstanding doctoral thesis

Last Friday, June 12, the CSIC awarded the III prize for the most outstanding doctoral theses carried out and defended by the CSIC research staff.

3 of the 20 awarded theses were developed at the Institute of Evolutionary Biology (IBE: CSIC-UPF).

The selected works stand out for their quality, impact, and relevance.

On Friday, June 12, the CSIC presented the third prize for the most exceptional doctoral theses completed and defended by its research staff. Three of the twenty awarded theses were created at the Institute of Evolutionary Biology (IBE: CSIC-UPF). The chosen works are notable for their quality, impact, and significance.

In the global area SOCIETY of the CSIC, the awarded work of the IBE is “Genomic insights into an underrepresented population: the Romani” by Neus Font Porterias, PhD in the group led by David Comas Human genome diversity.

In the global area LIFE of the CSIC, the awarded works of the IBE are “Evolution of the transcriptomic regulation in the primate lineage” by Luis Ferrandez Peral, PhD in the group led by Tomàs Marquès-Bonet Comparative genomics, and “Terraforming Earth's ecosystems: engineering ecosystems to avoid anthropogenic tipping points” by Blai Vidiella Rocamora, PhD in the group led by Ricard Solé Complex systems.

These awards recognize the work of early-career researchers, whose work is crucial for the advancement of knowledge and the institution.

In addition to promoting quality doctoral studies, the CSIC wants to recognize the research of early-career researchers and help ensure that this recognition aids them in advancing their research and professional careers.
