Jaume Bertranpetit receives the Narcís Monturiol Medal
First given by the Catalan Government in 1982, these awards recognize the contribution of Catalan organisations and authorities to the fields of science and technology. This year there are a total of 16 awardees.
Yesterday, 28 July, the Catalan Government announced the award of the Narcís Monturiol Medal to Jaume Bertranpetit, group leader at the Insitute of Evolutionary Biology (CSIC-UPF) and Professor of Biology at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra.
First given by the Catalan Government in 1982, these awards recognize the contribution of Catalan organisations and authorities to the fields of science and technology.
The presentation ceremony will be held in October in the “Palau de la Generalitat”. The Government also announced the awards of Narcís Monturiol Medals to fifteen other authorities in the fields of science and technology: Ramon Bacardit Cabado, Artur Bladé Font, Martine Bosman, Françoise Breton Renard, Marta Cascante i Serratosa, Miquel Duran Portas, Jordi Galí Garreta, Antonio Gens i Solé, Jaume Llibre i Saló, Xavier Matias-Guiu, Antoni Oliva Cuyàs, Josep Rizo i Rey, David Serrat Congost, Joan Maria Thomàs i Andreu, and Isabelle Vernos.
The Centre d'Estudis Demogràfics (CED), Consorci de Biblioteques Universitàries de Catalunya (CBUC), and Reial Acadèmia de Ciències i Arts de Barcelona (RACAB) are the three organisations presented the award this year.
