This study is the first published genome scan for positive selection using indel and SNP data from Phase I of the 1000 Genomes Project in 14 populations. More precisely, sites showing extreme levels of differentiation among populations were identified as having putatively evolved under adaptive selection. This study has been led by researchers at Sanger center (UK) in collaboration with IBE researchers.
