IBE has recently incorporated to PRBB
Past 13th July Institute of Evolutionary Biology was formally incorporated as a member of Parc de Recerca Biomèdica de Barcelona (PRBB). The centre, a joint institute of the CSIC and the UPF, was formally founded in the summer of 2008, and has since grown into a mature organisation with 20 research groups distributed over five scientific programmes. Its more than 100 staff are, divided between two different locations: the PRBB and the neighbouring CMIMA.

The incorporation of the Institute of Evolutionary Biology, directed by Xavier Bellés, to the PRBB was formalized by the park's executive board on July 13. The centre, a joint institute of the CSIC and the UPF, was formally founded in the summer of 2008, and has since grown into a mature organisation with 20 research groups distributed over five scientific programmes. Its more than 100 staff are, divided between two different locations: the PRBB and the neighbouring CMIMA.
Arcadi Navarro is the vicedirector of the institute and the coordinator of the Comparative and computational genetics programme. The other four programmes are Animal phylogeny and systematics, led by Jose Castresana; Functional evolution in insects, directed by Maria-Dolors Piulachs; Population genetics, with David Comas as the coordinator; and Complex systems, the most recently created, directed by Ricard Solé.
