Tomàs Marquès-Bonet has been appointed new Vice Director of the Institute of Evolutionary Biology (CSIC-UPF) in substitution of David Comas, who was recently appointed Director of the UPF CEXS Department. The change was formally approved by the IBE Exectuive Board in February and the Board of Trustees in April. Along with Prof. Xavier Bellés, Tomàs Marquès-Bonet is therefore the second member of IBE's directorate and becomes a member of the IBE Executive Board.

Tomàs is an ICREA Professor and leads the "Comparative Genomics Group" of the Comparative and Computational Genomics Program and has been in the Institute since its foundation in 2008.
