Description of a simple method to predict the invasion success of an exotic species. The example of mediterranean fish

In this study recently published in Ecology Letters magazine researchers describe a simple method (based on morphospaces) to predict the invasion success of an exotic species, using the mediterranean fish case study. Consistently with an old idea (from Darwin) invaders with a morphology that departs from the existing, resident "cloud" of morphologies is also more likely to exploit empty niches.

Consistently with an old idea (from Darwin) invaders with a morphology that departs from the existing, resident "cloud" of morphologies is also more likely to exploit empty niches. 

The idea is that we can have a warning signal as soon as a new fish specie has been reported, long before it might be harmful.
