Science is full of SHEroes whose passion, work and creativity inspired Evolutionary Biologists of today.

As part of our commitment with society, the Institute of Evolutionary Biology (IBE, CSIC-UPF) wants to give credit and visibility to the achievements of female scientists in evolution.

To that aim, we launched the campaign #WhoisyourSHEro to share stories of women who had an impact in our researchers' scientific career through our social media and website.

The campaign keeps on moving as more and more women in evolution are inspiring the IBE community.

You can join the conversation through social media under the hashtag #WhoisyourSHEro

IBE hosts 8 researchers who have received the ICREA seal of recognition

Elena Bosch heads the Evolutionary Population Genetics group and has been presented with the 2015 ICREA Academia Award by the Institució Catalana de Recerca i Estudis Avançats (ICREA). The award ceremony took place yesterday at the Palau Reial de Pedralbes.

Bosch is an Associate Professor at the Pompeu Fabra University. She heads a very active research group working on the different aspects of human genetic diversity. In particular, she is studing human adaptation and the architecture of the genetic predisposition to complex diseases.

The ICREA Academia programme was launched in 2008 with the aim of fostering and rewarding excellence in research done by professors. Thus, the programme contributes to the intensification of the research carried out by university professors who are in a fully active and expansive phase of their research careers. The winners of the ICREA Academia award, all of them professors at Catalonia’s public universities, receive a substantial research grant for a period of five years. The total number of ICREA Academia awards to date is 164.
